Silk is a luxurious, naturally biodegradable fabric that requires less water, energy, and chemicals to manufacture. As a renewable resource, it's a sustainable choice that aligns with our values.

Advantages of Silk as a Sustainable Fabric

Silk is a natural fiber that's fully biodegradable (depending on post-processing treatments), requires less water, fewer chemicals, and less energy than many other fabrics. At MERA, we're proud to use 100% OEKO-TEX 100 Certified silk in all of our garments.

Certified and Safe Garments

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the materials we use. We're dedicated to ensuring that our garments are safe and free of harmful chemicals. That's why all of our silk is OEKO-TEX 100 Certified, confirming its safety for both you and the environment.

Small Production Runs

We believe in responsible production practices, which is why we limit our production runs and avoid intermediaries, frequent flash sales, or overproduction. Our overseas atelier is audited to ensure that our code of ethics and standards are respected.

Environmentally Friendly Packaging and Shipping

We're committed to minimizing our environmental impact in all aspects of our business, including our packaging and shipping. We use only cotton for our hang tags and pack our products in compostable bags and unbleached cotton dust bags. We also use biodegradable mailers and electric vans from NZ Post to deliver our products across New Zealand.

Fair Pricing

We believe that sustainability and ethical practices shouldn't come at a premium. That's why we strive to offer high-quality items at affordable prices. Our direct-to-consumer model eliminates intermediaries and distributors, allowing us to set fair prices for both our customers and production partners.
